Birthday & Fair

For my birthday I took the day off and went with the boys and my mom to the state fair. Next year it won't be near us because they are moving it 3 hours away :( so this was our last shot for awhile! It's sad to see this tradition pass because we used to go every year growing up, my mom, sister and I.

We went to the petting zoo and that was about the only thing they enjoyed. I brought the stroller and was pushing 70lbs worth of kid, 10lb of stroller, and another 10lb of crap we had to lug with us. Not sure it was worth it.

My guys loved the goat.

I wanted them to go on a ride but they were super expensive and considering Lk can't even deal with a carousel we opted out. I'd spent all the money I brought anyway. One thing I got was a really cool metal sign advertising the Wizard of Oz and I may hang that in my refurbished basement or upstairs if I can find the space.

After a healthy lunch of nachos and cotton candy, we left.

Next we went to the phone company so Mom could run in and pay the bill. My guys started crying at the top of their lungs in the car with me. They were tired and wanted to get home. I couldn't wait to put them down for a nap! It caused us to wonder if we wouldn't have had more fun just Mom and I going and leaving the boys in daycare :) but at least I can say we went!

Didn't do much at night, just hung out and ate ribs and Mom made an apple pie which I asked for instead of a cake as it's 10 times better than any cake.

I'm so happy you took the day off and spent it with our boys!! ;o) That looks lke a great petting zoo, looks like Lm & Lk had a lot of fun! Hannah was a goat lover too. LOL... Sound like you had a scrumptious birthday dinner! I'd go for the apple pie over cake any day! :o)

Where they moving the fair to? That sounds crazy! My friend "B" went to the fair there last week, too.

I can't believe how suddenly Lm and Lk look OLDER. Cripes! What a huge difference from this spring.

YIKES. Hey, I called you. You must have your phone shut off. It goes straight to voice mail.

I have to say that you made me smile.. :)

Probably WOULD have enjoyed yourself more with them at the sitter.

Unfortunately, they just do NOT enjoy things that we choose for them until they are MUCH older. The sad part is that we spend so much $$ planning and setting up things for them and it ends up all being in vain. Until they are old enough to make solid memories (5-6), they just do not enjoy anything that interrupts their schedule or takes them somewhere other than where they are comfortable....

Glad you had an enjoyable dinner...:)
