The nausea kicked in while driving to church Sunday morning. I should've just turned around and gone back home, but I had high hopes that maybe I was just suffering from a little hangover, what with the free open bar at the company party Saturday night. No such luck. From there I just felt worse and worse and then got very sick (during Mass, unfortunately). Once home, I told Mom I was sick, and she'd already seen my boys and my dad with it, so she knew what I had. "Quick," she said, "let's get the picture of you with the boys for the Christmas picture before you get really bad."
Yeah...I don't think we can use this one either...
I might as well have just jumped off a bridge, because the last thing you want to do if you have a fever or are dehydrated is take a hot bath! It felt good for the first couple of minutes, until I started to black out and felt like I was in the 9th circle of hell. I had to open the window (it was like 10 degrees) and get out to lay on the floor with just a towel over me for a solid hour to cool off. My mom was in her side of our duplex and was busy with the boys, so I couldn't get her attention. But I could not move without starting to black out, so I had to just lay there and slowly manage to get my jammies on.
How sad is this? I had to have my mom shut my window, put on my socks, and help me to bed. She wanted to take me to the ER for a bag of IV fluids. I was so dehydrated that I couldn't open my eyes very far because there was not enough moisture to open and close them. Poor Mom was on the verge of a breakdown, the boys apparently were monsters all day and Lk threw her favorite cookbook in a sink full of water, among other things.
Around 10pm or so, I was able to take a couple sips of 7-UP, something I drink only when very sick or when it's mixed with whiskey. Yesterday I stayed home from work and slept until the kids were out of daycare. Today: much improved.

Saturday night was my company's Christmas party. I didn't go last year, but this year I had a date and the weather held, so we went. They were raffling off 2 sets of round trip tickets to Hawaii, and that was part of the draw. Plus free food and liquor, of course...
Alas, my number was not drawn for one of the Hawaii trips. I had won a set of note cards earlier in the day at a luncheon, so I guess my good karma was already met for the day...

OMG Terri! *huge hugs* I really feel for you! How miserable you must have felt! ;o( I can imagine you were feeling like you were on your death bed! I'm so happy your mom was there to help you out, what a wonderful momma ya have!
On a good note, I'm glad you had a good time at your companies Christmas party. ;o) Cheers!
Let's just hope this will be the last of illnesses for a LONG TIME!
Holy crappers! I'm sorry you were so sick. That's the kind of flu you get when you're a kid. And your mom is a saint to have put you to bed. I shudder to think if she wasn't there.
Hope you're feeling better!!
Wow...what a bummer to end up with that yuck! Glad you had a good time at the party and I'm glad I didn't go! There would have been NO way I would have gotten everything done if I'd gone! Hope you're feeling better, girl! Talk to you when I get back!
Christmas party sounds like a good time but I'm more interested about the "date".
Glad to hear you're feeling better.
I'm so glad you're feeling better. Like I had said, there are studies out there saying that getting whopping sick like that no and then and avoiding anti-bacterial soaps/sprays is actually good for you because it promotes the good fighting cells in your body to grow stronger against future attacks and recognize unhealthy bacteria.
However, EEKS. There have been multitudes of times I've gotten into a super hot, hot-tub and been drinking and dehydrated, I'm sure. I didn't know that was a no-no.
