My Poor Baby

Lately Lm has been cranky at night. He'd fall asleep, then wake up 2 hrs later screaming and has been crying a solid hour each time, especially when I've tried to get him to go back to sleep. The other night I was in his room 7 times within an hour, and finally had to just let him scream for 20 minutes straight until he fell asleep. Also he's had a bad diaper rash.

It's not so easy to tell when to bring your kid in to the doctor. When you contemplate the time off work, the minimum hour's wait with toddlers in a cramped waiting room, the $30 copay, the drive there, it's a major inconvience. Many times I've been on the fence, brought one of them in, only to hear he's just got a cold or diaper rash and has to let it run its course. With being so preoccupied lately with the accident and the hassle from that, I called the nurse on Saturday instead, and she told me a cream to try. It was getting better, but other symptoms started occurring, so I scheduled an appt for yesterday morning for Lm, and asked my boss if I could come in a little late because of it.

I was gone 3 days for the accident, and I know he's freaking because a coworker put in his notice last week so we'll be a person short for awhile. So my mom took him to the appointment. I felt incredibly guilty that I couldn't be there with my boy, and I was very worried about him.

She called to tell me he has a Staph infection. I feel just terrible about it, why didn't I take him in earlier, etc. My poor little guy! Now he's on an antibiotic and recovering well; last night was the first in awhile where he didn't cry after I put him to bed. He slept very soundly and looked so peaceful when I went to check on him. Today he's like his old self already.

Here are some weekend photos of my guys playing in their new fleece fall jackets.

Lk contemplates his shadow...

They're getting so independent. Lk no longer needs to hold my hand going down the slide (sniff, sniff).

Grandpa got a big box from the local furniture store and cut "doors" in each side so they have another playhouse, you can see behind the swing.

Lm loves to look out this window and "talk" to me.

Lk is talking all the time now. He's sure gotten a big vocabulary over the past few months. It's now possible to have a "conversation" with him. The other day when I was in the bathroom, he knocked on the door. "Mommy!" he said. "What, Lk?" "Well, c'mon! Let's go outside!"
