Mister Mischief & Blue Eyes No More

Lately Lm has been throwing a few tantrums if he doesn't get his way. When he gets really frustrated he will throw himself down on the floor and just start flailing around. I talked to the doctor about it and he said that this is common for his age and to just ignore it when it happens.

That is the hardest part for me, because I'm thinking maybe I have not been setting enough boundaries with him and need to really nip that in the bud now. After being told while pregnant that he would not make it, going through 2 surgeries before he was 15 months (omphalocele and undescended testicle), and facing the possibility last year of hydrocephalus that would have required brain surgery--which thankfully turned out not to be the case, but still there were the hours of agonizing worry, watching my little guy go into the MRI machine, waiting for the results, etc.

All of this, plus his cute little face, has made it extremely hard and at times, impossible, to say no to him. "He has you wrapped around his finger," my mom says. So I've started setting some boundaries with him and he doesn't like it one bit. One day I said, "Lm, no! Don't throw your plate on the floor" and he turned red, put his little hands over his face, bent his head down, and started weeping--he was just stunned that I would say no to him, poor guy. But there will be many more instances like this in the future, as I want him to toe the line.

Luckily my boys have good hearts. If Lk cries, Lm tries to give him toys or even his sippy cup, to get him out of a bad mood. So hard to say no to this face...

A kiss from mommy...

With Grandma last year...

Hanging out with his brother...

At 3 months old. This bib just swallowed him up.

Some recent pics...it may be hard to tell, but his eyes have changed color from when he was smaller. He has always had blue eyes, and I have been stymied by this, since his other biological half has brown eyes, and mine are hazel. Now his are also turning hazel!

I think he will have my eye color...

And Peace Out!

It's so very common for tots to have temper tantrums at their age, which an be upsetting to go through as a parent. It's hard to imagine you little cutie pie having a tantrum. He's adorable, I just want to squeeze him! :o)

Very cute pics. He sounds very typical for his age!

You know Kaidyn has crystal blue eyes and I have hazel while he has brown. She also has blond hair with both of us having dark brown. Genetics is such a weird thing!

Sophia has done the temper tantrum thing too. Lots of fun when that happens. I can definitely see why you are protective of him, I find myself being like that with Lauren now too sometimes.

I am right there with ya sweetie! Mine 2 are BOTH in the terrible twos with a vengeance! It is so NORMAL!

I can also relate to the conflict taht you have in regards to his initial health and discipline. BTDT with Tobey. Let me tell you this: You are smart to try and nip it in the bud now as I learned the hard way...

Thinking of you and Brennyn's sweet sweet long lost twin!
